First launched by Women in Mining UK (WIM UK) in 2013, the biennial “100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining” (WIM100) publication highlights the female talent within the global mining sector, celebrates their extensive contributions to this industry, and identifies role models for future generations.
At the end of 2022, WIM Mongolia's Chairwoman N.Tumenbayar was nominated for WIM 100. She is the second person from Mongolia to get this nomination, the first being Mrs.Oyun, also our Board member who got her nomination back in 2014.
This recognition was such a wonderful end of year of 2002 and start of 2023 !! WIM Mongolia is encouraged to do so much more for advancing the women participation in Mongolia’s extractive industry.

WIM Mongolia takes an active part in the International WIM Alliance (https://internationalwim.org).

On February 16, 2022, WIM Mongolia’s board member D.Otgonchimeg participated in the IWIM’s Committee meeting on Inclusive Workspace Design, the program that IWIM initiated in 2020.

We focus on ways of forcing companies to apply modern technologies and management practice that provide better attractiveness of workplaces for women and their health and safety including the provision of fitting PPE, better shift design and more flexibility/agile working for women’s child care duties. We encourage mining companies to make such changes in their workplace design be that in the office or at mine site.

WIM Mongolia took part with 3 participants while our chairwoman N.Tumenbayar moderated the Roundtable on Inclusive Workplace Design, together with Kate Finch from Australia. This Roundtable discussed historical and current experiences of design upgrades within mine sites that are believed to promote increase of women in the workforce of the mining industry.

The Summit launched the International WIM Alliance – a pioneering initiative that brings WIM organisations together to leverage our collective strength.

We congratulate IWIM and all WIM associations for this global team work, opportunity to empower ourselves, new ideas and networking!

According to the studies presented during this discussion, 95% of victims of workplace harassment were women, mostly 18-30 years old, of whom 48.1% were civil servants, and 57.6% of offenders were civil servants as well. Representatives of the state and non-governmental organizations including WIM Mongolia, international cooperation institutions, some foreign embassies, trade unions, industry groups and larger companies discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to elimination of gender-based workplace harassment in Mongolia.
