WIM Mongolia September News
Dear WIM Mongolia Members & Followers:
The 2nd Annual Breakfast meeting was held during Discover Mongolia 2014 on September 5th at Rosewood Coffee House in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The agenda of the meeting was to announce the official registration of WIMM and introduce members of its first Board of Directors.
First 7 Board of Directors and Executive Team:
1. Ms. Tumenbayar Nyamaa, Chairwoman
2. Mrs. Bolor Sambuu, Vice-Chair
3. Mrs. Tugsjargal Tumen, Executive Director
4. Ms. Bulgan Altangerel, Director
5. Ms. Isabel Cane, Director
6. Mrs. Bolor Erdene, Director
7. Mrs. Otgonchimeg Dunkhersuren, Director
Moreover, a new initiative, piloted this past summer, a Mentorship Program, was introduced to our newly established board as well as to our Advisory Council and to future mentors. The advisory council was represented by Dr. Graeme Hancock, President and Chief Representative of Anglo American.
This event was by invite only and we had the opportunity to invite a few future members as well as mentors such as Mr. Enkh-Amgalan Myagmar, Head of Legal Department at ETT, Mr. Tsenguun Tsogt, CHPP Project Manager at ETT, Ms. Oyundelger Purev, Execute Finance Director at MoEnCo, Ms. Munkhtuya N., Project coordinator at OT.
Our Mentorship Programming Committee consists of Ms. Bulgan Altangerel, Mrs. Bolor Erdene., Ms. Hulan Zalaa-Uul, Mrs. Bolor Sambuu and Mrs. Otgonchimeg Dunkhersuren. They introduced the Mentorship Program process and its business plan to the Board. During the event, Dr. Graeme recommended potential mentors. Both the Board and the Advisory council supported this newly initiated program and showed great interest in assisting WIMM to attract sponsorship.
This event wouldn't be possible without help of WIMM first mentees which included Ms. Sondor Dorj, Ms. Hulan Zalaa-Uul and Ms. Enke Gendendorj. We selected these mentees inter alia on the basis of their interest in taking part of the growing community of Mongolian women in mining. They are representing sectors such as commercial law, environmental consulting, and international development.
In addition, WIMM collaborates with other student organizations such as Glueckauf.mn. Mr. Margad Togtokhbayar, who is a founding member of this organization, reached out WIMM in the interest of 60% female students members. We are developing a strategic plan to partner with this newly established non-profit organization run by Mongolians studying mining in Germany.
We are energized by the newly established Board and please stay tuned for more news!
